Something of Nothing!

The weather is like a stuck record at the moment, and nothing is going to change very quickly even into next week.Tonight, will see a lot of cloudy conditions with some patchy rain, perhaps a few heavier bursts overnight but that clearing away first thing in the morning. A warm muggy night ,lows down to 15c/59f.
Saturday starts on the fimiliar note of a few bright intervals but a lot of cloud persisting through the day. Mainly dry, but perhaps the odd light shower, temperatures in any sunshine pushing up to 22c/72f and lows of 13c/55f.
Sunday, starts again mainly cloudy but more chance of some showers today but as always some places will remain dry. Winds Westerly, but veering round to the Northwest later in the day with some fresher conditions following. Dont forget to send us anything weather related in to us at worcestershireweather and we will tell the rest of the world about it! Catch you later on Sunday. have a good one...See Yaa Ian.

Photo Gallery 1 ......Funnel clouds and Stormy skies!

The photos above are of a "Funnel Cloud" developing over the skies of Evesham in August 2008 during what seemed a rather "weakish" thunderstorm. I always carry my camera with me on good looking stormy days, and on this day I got lucky! Now ,this is not a "Tornado"A Tornado  is a funnel cloud that touches the Earths surface, hence in definition "Tornado" A Funnel cloud is what the photos are showing .where there is only partial development of a column or circulation of fast rotating air......Just click on the photo to make it enlarge...
Here is a link for some dramatic photos of storms and there consequences throughout the World.

This and That!!

Its felt a lot cooler and fresher across our patch today as a cold front cleared the Uk late last night and what a beautiful sunset in the wake of that cold front, last night, so I i decided to dust of that camera and take some photos, which shortly I will be adding to the Photo galleries on here and dont forget you too can share your photos with us by sending them in to worcestershireweather and we will post them up with your name stamped to them!
Todays maximum temperature, only reached 21.4c and the low this morning a rather chilly 9.8c with some early Autumn like mist! Now current temperatures across our region at 7 pm are between 15 and 18c and with that cloud and any residual showers clearing and light winds so the temps will fall low enough for a comfortable nights sleep, and lows down to 8c in some rural spots.
Thursday dawns bright with some sunshine after any early River and meadow mist and thats the way it will stay for a few hours before the cloud tends to fill the late morning sky and then it tending to be overcast for the rest of the day with perhaps the odd light shower ,but most places will stay dry. Highs of 22c if you get any amount of sunshine, but those with more cloud and that breeze from the NorthWest it will feel cool, ideal day for a hill walk if you have the time!! Cloud and any residual light showers showers clearing and another cool night to come ,lows 9c/48f
Friday, starts bright  and cool again with some sunshine but patchy cloud will build up very quickly and the SouthWesterly breeze will pick up and bring in a lot warmer and humid airmass, some sunshine though especially in the Southeast of out area but the bright conditions will be slowly eroded from the Northwest with Shropshire seeing some rain by early evening. highs is some parts could reach 25c/77f so back to the warmth for a while!...I will be back very shortly.....See Ya  Ian.

Little Change...!

Its been a very warm muggy day across our region with 80f being recorded at worcestershireweathers HQ, despite rather a lot of cloud ,but courtesy of a warm, moist air mass. Little change as we go into the new week and if you like the warm conditions then this is a good forecast for you, but if you're looking for lots of sunshine, then you will be disappointed as there is likely to be rather a lot of cloud around with some light showers too. Tonight will be dry , but rather cloudy ,a warm muggy night to come with lowest temperatures down to 14c 57f, but in the larger towns and Cities lows down to 17c/63f.
Monday starts the way Sunday finished warm and muggy and that's the way its going to stay, but a weak weather front may produce some light showers to the NorthWest of our region for example Shropshire, but the SouthEast of our area  ,Oxfordshire could well see some good sunny intervals, pushing the temperatures up to 80f but even here there could well be the odd light shower later, another muggy cloudy night to come with lows of 16c.
Tuesday is almost a repeat performance of Monday except that a weather front could produce some showery rain in the Northwest by mid afternoon and move Southeast with perhaps some heavier bursts later afternoon /evening. Highs 25c/77f  lows 14c /57f.
Wednesday, starts off bright or even sunny, but cloud will increase fairly quickly to provide more in the way of cloudy conditions. Feeling a little fresher, but highs still getting towards the 75f/ 24c mark. Have a good first part to your week and I will be back later on Wednesday evening....See Ya...Ian.

worcestershireweather forecast area....!

Yep, youre right this is a map of the Uk, and as you can see ive highlighted our forecast area by the vague boundaries of a rectangular box! The forecast area covers about 100 miles from West to East and about 70miles from north to south. It really is a beautiful area and very varied. From the Midland plateauxs and lowlands of Warwickshire, south to the rolling hills of Oxfordshire, and then West across the Cotswolds of Gloucestershire and the Severn plain and the Forest of Dean ,then North across the valleys and Malvern hills of our home county of Worcestershire then up to the 2nd City of Birmingham ,then West across the  beautiful hills of southern Shropshire , then south and West to the stunning Welsh Marches and the county of Herefordshire, and then we dip our toes into the Beautiful and tranquill area of Eastern Mid Wales and then down across the majestic Black Mountains into Lovely Monmouthshire.
So even though it looks a small area, there certainly is a wide range of scenery and weather. The West of this region is generally much wetter than the East of our forecast area with the Welsh mountains taking our rain and we here in Worcestershire are in the rainfall shadow with rainfall in the West of our forcast region seeing up to 2 or three times the rainfall of  "worcestershireweather HQ " here in Evesham! So I will be doing my upmost to give you a accurate and detailed forecast, for us in this area ,and also please note I will be happy to give you a personal forecast for any other region of the Uk, and if youre travelling abroad I can also do a forecast for there too! So just remember to become a member , the more the merrier and now Ive introduced a social networking area which is under each post I make ,so you can send this information and share with your friends on ,facebook, twitter etc.....enjoy! MONTHLY WEATHER ROUNDUP....June 2010.

JUNE 2010.
The month on the whole was fine settled and very warm at times, but it was very surprising to find that the monthy rainfall was just about bang on average! The [VOEWS] "Vale Of Evesham Weather Station  recorded rainfall on just 7 days of the month mainly between the 6th and 14th where altogeather 68.2mms, compared to the montly average of 64mms about 2.5 inches leaving 23 dry days to be had for the month. Pressure was fairly high throughout the month with 1028.2 mbs on the 15th and lowest pressure was recorded  999.9mbs on the 8th. Daytime temperatures were somewhat  above average with the typical June daily average of about  19.7c  and the weather station here recorded  22.5c /72f  but the nightime average was just about normal with a low average of 10.6c/ 51f. The highest temperature recorded was on the 26th with a hot 29.2c /84f and the lowest temperature was recorded on the 20th with 6.7c/43f.

A "fairly" fair weekend!

Evening folks! The end of the week once again and of course , Schools have now begun
there Summer Holidays and in the next 6weeks people will be starting there traveling from one point to another and the good news if you're staying in the UK, its not going to be bad. Tonight sees the cloud starting to evaporate and it going to leave a fairly cool night with lows down to 9c/48f.
Saturday dawns bright, with some sunshine in one or two places, cloud will increase from the gentle Southwest breeze, and the afternoon looks to become cloudy, and later courtesy of a weak weather front some light showery rain is expected during late afternoon and the evening time although in these situations some places will stay dry. A warmer Saturday evening though with that cloud and damp conditions lows of 15c/59f and highs of 19c/66f.
Sunday, gets rid of that messy weak front and the day will generally be fine although there will be a lot of cloud at times, winds coming in from the NorthWest the odd light shower possible especially in the West of our forecast area but in any good sunshine it will easily reach 21c/70f. Just remember, to become a member on!"worcestershireweather.com" share youre thoughts and pics and video on anything weather related.....enjoy your weekend See Ya!!

More of the same....!

Well yesterdays cold front gave us forecasters a "big" headache as it did not do as we had forecast!! Ah Ah No, the forecast was just about right , but it was all a little bit further West than originally predicted, oh well thats weather forecasting for you!! Now its a little more straightforward in the next couple of days as low pressure will provide the classic sunshine and showers scenario.
Tonight will see any residual showers dying out to leave a dry night with some clear periods, ,cooler than recently ,lows of 11c/52f.
Thursday dawns bright with some sunshine and the morning looks as though it will be dry, the best part of the day if you want to do some jobs outside, the afternoon will see some big ,tall clouds starting to develop and that heralds some heavy, perhaps thundery showers to develop during mid to late afternoon, perhaps with hail and thunder. These will carry on during the evening before clearing away in the early hours. Highs Thursday..22c/72f...lows 9c /48f
Friday, looks an ok sort of day, some light residual showers perhaps midday, but a lot of dry bright weather, with light winds.....More weather later on Friday with the weekend prospects.
HEADS UP....
Just to tell you that we are bringing some new features on worcestershireweather in the next couple of weeks. We will be featuring the "worcestershireweather forecast area map" for you, and you will see it covers a much bigger area than Worcestershire! Next, we are starting a "worcestershireweather Quiz" and we are asking you as members to send youre answers in and there will be a prize for the correct entry "subject to the shuffle of entries in an old hat"!! and then we will have a section called "Data please...You Can Help!" This section is asking for anything weather related, Photos, Video, data from your Home ,temperature, wind,Rainfall etc, and what we will do is put your observation on worcestershireweather and plot the info on the forecast map with youre name on it. Also we are going to do an Holiday section, called "Holidays, from Mother Nature" where you can tell us or show us youre video/pics or just write into worcestershireweather.com and tell us how youre holiday was enhanced, or detroyed by the weather. We will also be posting a "monthly weather round up" and youre data will be invaluble in this area. So lots to come in the near future, but just remember to become a member on worcestershireweather.com all it takes is your time ,the rest is FREE! seeyaa Ian.

Very Unsettled!

The coming week is going to see some very unsettled weather across our region, with once again low pressure becoming slow moving across the Uk. Of cause of concern for our region is that of a "stalling front! from late Monday night and only moving away the early hours of Wednesday morning which computer models are showing a potential for some very heavy thundery rain during a 24hour period and perhaps some areas could get up to 2 inches of rain ,but I will firm up on that in the next 24 hrs. Onto tonight, a very benign night ,warm and muggy ,breezy too with a few very light scattered showers. Onto Monday, a very warm ,humid day with sunny intervals ,staying dry during daylight hours and temperatures reaching 26c/80f.
Heavy rain setting in late Monday night with perhaps some rumbles of Thunder and this persisting through Tuesday with some widespread heavy rain, rumbles of thunder too, but if you are lucky enough to get some brightness temperature will respond quickly 21c/70f but in the heavy rain 14c/57f.
Into Wednesday, any rain should clear, and then some fresher conditions with some sunshine ,but with some heavy showers later, Highs 21c, catch you later on Wednesday for the forecast to the end of the week, and I will keep you with an update on the potential heavy rain this week..........SeeYa,,,,Ian

Glass Half Full.....

The weekend once, again and it has to be said its not going to be too bad to be out and about! This evening has had a rumble or two of thunder here at worcestershireweather HQ, so for tonight there will still be one or two heavy showers maybe one or two overnight ,but most places will stay dry with light winds and some clear spells and a low of about 13c.

Saturday, dawns bright and it stays fairly benign through the day, just the chance of a light shower, but most places staying dry, rather cloudy at times but with some sunshine between. Highs Saturday of 21c/70f and a low overnight of 13c/55f.

Sunday ,will see a front trying to move in from the West but it will struggle to make it across our area ,so even though its likely to remain dry ,there could be some outbreaks of rain later in the day. Sunday will have a muggy feel to the day and despite the breeze at times which will be fairly noticeable and given some bright or sunny interval, it will turn out fairly warm as the airmass will be moist and warm all the way from the Canary Islands and temps could well climb to the midseventies which is about 24c and a warm and muggy night to follow with lows overnight into Monday of about 16c........I will be back on Sunday evening to give you a flavour for the upcoming week, but untill then from the worcestershireweather forecast center ,Have A Good One....seeya.!

WEATHER ADVISORY...

Issued by Ian Pickering on behalf of worcestershireweather.com ......Valid from 9am to 12Midnight BST 15th July 2010
"STRONG WINDS."
A deep area of low pressure will provide at times very gusty South/SouthWest winds across our area with some exposed areas getting gusts in excess of 40mph. Small branches may fall from some trees due to the weight of full foilage and to the gusty nature of the strong winds...

A "low" for the weather.....

Yes, the weather will be dominated by low pressure right to the end of the week ,so that means one thing...unsettled! Low pressure will be moving away towards the North of the uk by the end of Friday which is good news but the next couple of days expect sun , rain, thunder and some very windy conditions at times.
Wednesday evening, will see some heavy thundery showers across our area and these could well be accompanied by some very gusty winds and hail. It will slowly settle down overnight but with still some overnight showers, lows of 15c.
Thursday will start off with a fair amount of cloud with some showers around ,but what will be notable will be the strength of the wind, gusting up to 40mph at times so there could be a few small branches down as the trees are now in full leaf. It will generally cloud over during later afternoon and some heavy thundery rain will set in. That moves away during the course of the evening with some clear periods and lows down to 14c and a high of 23c on Thursday, but still with that wind blowing in from the south/southwest.
Friday starts in the fimiliar way with sunshine and blustery showers but through the course of the day the showers will ease and the wind will slowly die down. Highs of 21c on Friday, and then of course the weekend by then will be upon us, more about that on Friday.......seeya...

A "BIG" change!

Yes, the weekend comes to an end again and now to start the working week we are going to see a big change of weather with much cooler conditions and some welcome rain too, and that change of much unsettled weather will be with us all week!
Sunday Evening will be rather cloudy and a muggy feel to things, and during the early hours heavy thundery rain will arrive from the south and some of this rain may be accompanied by thunder.
Monday will see heavy outbreaks of rain soon moving away during midmorning then a mainly dry day, perhaps a few showers and rather a lot of cloud at times , and it will feel much cooler and fresher in that Northerly breeze with highs of only 16c 61f. A breezy cool night to come with some outbreaks of rain and lows of 9c.
Tuesday, will start off with some showers around and with an increasingly fresh Easterly breeze will be picking up during the day. These showers are likely to form into longer spells of rain later in the day, but with the wind backing to more of a southerly direction it will be less cold with lows of 14c/57f. Highs on Tuesday at about 18c.
Wednesday will feel a little warmer but with the same scenario of sunshine and showers perhaps more organized thundery rain later in the day. Winds will be mainly from a southerly direction and gusting up to 25 mph at times but it wont feel to chilly with temperatures peaking at 20c /68f.
I will be back later on Wednesday, to give you an update on the rest of the week and a hint of the weekends weather......Have a good one SEEYA.....!

Its Showtime!!

Yes,its the weekend and its high Summer, so that means many outdoor events taking place, across Worcestershire and surrounding counties. Its the Evesham River Festival, the Fladbury Walkabout, and the Evesham 10K race on Sunday to name just a few, and guess what?.....The weathers going to play ball with us.!! Saturday, starts on a fimiliar note, dry ,sunny intervals, variable high cloud at times and a breeze from the SouthWest, gusting up to 15mph at times but despite that another very warm ,humid, day with highs approaching 80f, 26c! A warm muggy night to come with lows of about 14c. ....Sunday starts very similar, but with the wind turning to the West during the morning it will feel less oppresive and with that breeze from the west it will feel more pleasant if you dont like the heat! Breezy again at times, with some cloudier spells but temperatures still peaking at around 23c/24c...73f/75f, so a great outdoors weekend for all the events across the counties. Now, although this weather is great for the "Alfresco" life, its not good for our gardens and folks who depend on there livelihoods such as growers, as the ground is now very dry, well Ive got some good news for you folks later on Sunday...Untill then, have a great and peaceful weekend , enjoy whatever you are doing, and I will be back here later on Sunday.....SEEYA.....Ian

The July 2007 floods......

Much has been talked about these dramatic floods in July 2007. The month as a whole was extremely wet even by Winter standards, The whole month took a whoping 9 inches of rainfall about 4 times the average! Flooding hit at some point virtually all the county and surrounding counties too whether it was localized flooding or River flooding. The NorthWest of the county along the Teme valley saw dramatic flooding around midmonth with much damage done and then came one one of the UKs largest deluge for many years on the 20th as a small but potent "cutoff low" drifted North from France and sat over the county that day, especially the southern half along with North Gloucestershire and SouthWestern parts of Warwickshire and as a result some enourmous rain totals were recorded! Over a large part of this area mentioned torrential rain lashed down along with some rumbles of thunder and 5 to 7 inches of rain fell widely on already saturated ground and the water had no where else to go but to the already swollen Rivers Avon, Severn and Isbourne, not to mention the other countless smaller Rivers and streams across this region. At my newly installed weather station[ VOEWS] here at worcestershireweather.com a staggering 135mms fell on the 20th thats nearly 6 inches and of note too a maximum temperature of only 12c/54f. As a result of this tremendous rainfall, Horrific flooding and damage was the result and as worcestershireweather.com home is sat neatly by the Rivers Avon/Isbourne ,I did not have to go far to find out, but fortunately and amazingly we were not flooded but the poor folks across the road were as the photo in the top left hand corner shows. Needless to say from the dramatic video and pictures which follow, the floods were to close for comfort and to hear the roar of the Rivers ,the tremendous power of water was literally brought to my home and I remembered the feeling of being very frightened and scared.......All I can say it was an experience I will never forget. and of course for those flooded in there homes and businesses across the worst affected areas of Evesham and Tewkesbury , Im sure its something they would rather put behind them...Needless to say, its something which Im hoping and everyone else.we wont see again......!

To be Fair...Not much rain!

Its a forecast to please some ,and not to please others! If your staying on Holiday in our beautiful area ,good news as it will be mainly dry and increasingly warm, but those who are looking for some much wanted rain ,"tiddlypip" is the best you will get between now and the weekend. Tuesday night, will often be cloudy and breezy with some patchy very light rain ,but most will stay dry. Lows tonight of 13c 55f so it will a rather muggy feeling to the night despite the breeze.
Wednesday, is another mainly dry, muggy feeling day with rather a lot of cloud, but theres a chance of seeing some sunshine, again breezy at times and later in the day a few light rain showers possible ,highs tommorrow of 23c .
Thursday, another dry day, with light winds and more sunshine, it will feel very warm and humid, despite cloudier spells ,temps 24/25c...75/77f
Friday, A warmer day still during today, but muggy and feeling hot in the sunshine. increasing wind from the south during the second half of the day but still staying dry, 26/27c 79/81f the highs with a very muggy warm night to come into the early hours of Saturday....More about the upcoming weekend shortly, but will we see much wanted rain?? No severe weather is expected , but take note that the grass pollen will be medium to high over this forecast period and the UV index remains in the high category, and just remmeber even if its cloudy at this time of year you still can get sunburnt, so those with fairskin, picticularly ,slap on the suncream!!....
