Your End Of 2012 Forecast!

Ok Folks, hope youve enjoyed your Christmas and now for the new year! River levels have dropped in the last few days, but I expect the rivers to rise again due to to the fact we are going to have some more heavy rain right up to the new year period. Strong winds also so possibility of fallen trees as well are in the forecast. Good news is that the flooding issues cease for a while next week as high presssure nudges in from the south ,cloudy but mild and mainly dry next week sums it up. The weather pattern over the weekend will be rather cold but becoming milder next week and Jack Frost for the moment has got lost!!!Happy New Year...Ian/

Your Festive Week Ahead Forecast....

Hi Folks, sorry had no time to put a video forecast togeather, but you probably will not want to hear it!! Tonight will see more rain overnight this clearing first thing, then Christmas eve dry for a while before more rain piles in later clearing during the early hours of Christmas day. The best day I think of the festive period,is Christmas day and,Then into Boxing day perhaps some patchy frost to start the day then fine before more rain sweeps across the area during the evening. The rest of the week looks as though the very unsettled weather will be with us untill the new year with gales driving rain and yes more flooding alternating between cold and milder spells. I will be with you later in the week, but may I wish you a Very Merry Christmas...Ian.

Your Winter Forecast 2012/2013.

This Winter forecast I stress is entirely my own thoughts and not influenced by any outside source.
HEADLINE.
Cold to very cold conditions generally throughout this winter,Stormy at times, picticulary for Southern Britain, flooding issues are still likely, and generally above average snowfall. Milder weather at times likely but short lived.
DECEMBER.
This month will often see airmases sourced from the Artic move south to cover the Uk for most of this month, with limited milder spells in to SouthWest Britain. Snow is likely to be disruptive in places and even the South of the Uk could well see snow with perhaps stormy winds with low pressure moving North or NorthEast.
JANUARY
2013 Looks to start off cold and wintry, but this month looks like Northerly to Northwesterly winds will be more common place, so Scotland and Northern England and North Wales bearing the brunt of any significant snowfall whilst South East Britain could well see some very cold frosty weather with subzero or"ice days" and see less of any significant snow but not exclusively. January is likely to see the coldest month overall of the Winter months.
FEBRUARY.
High pressure is likely to establish itself over Scandinavia, so frequent Easterly outbreaks look likely to be more common. The North and East of the Uk look like seeing the driest of the weather but with snow showers likely, but low pressure is likely to move up from the SouthWest at times bringing the threat of snowstorms and flooding rain as the West turns briefly milder. Overall temperatures colder for Eastern Britain a little milder for Western Britain at times but overall still average temperatures or below for all.
KEY THOUGHTS SUMMERY.
*Generally below average temperatures for all,but all areas at times will see some short lived mider spells.
**Above average stormy spell especially for Southern Britain picticularly during December and February
***Precipitation including snowfall above average ,although Eastern Britain may well see average or below precipitation during February.
***Disrupted or Buckled Jet stream leading to some notable severe weather this Winter, which computer models will not pick upon until very near the time.
****Computer models will often underestimate severe weather even in a so called "Reliable timeframe"

Your Weekend Forecast....

Evening folks. Some dire weather this last week, and unfortunately more to come this weekend. A respite tonight as skies will become clear and Jack Frost will make an appearance. Lows on Saturday morning down to minus1/30 f, so watch out for icy surfaces on untreated roads and pavements. Perhaps some mist and fog first thing, but this will soon clear to leave a dry morning, but with increasing cloud and breeze. Rain moving in during the afternoon and this gets heavier and more persistent during the evening and first part of the overnight period. A cold feeling day. Overall, an inch of rain looks likely so certainly more renewed flooding problems are likely during Sunday. If youre concerned please go to  http://www.enviromentagency.com  to check river levels. A brief respite on Sunday morning and early afternoon but more rain moving in later on Sunday and into Monday.Anyway whatever youre doing have a good weekend, stay safe, and later next week ,we may be using the [S] word! Evening Folks , and an early and quick update for the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday both have a windchill, largely dry and bright , but there will be some scattered heavy even thundery showers, containing hail and some of these on the top of the Cotswolds and Malverns will be of a rain/sleet mix.  Saturday evening for the most part will be reserved for the Firework celebrations, take your boots, scarf and hat and even an umbrella, as the wind will be strong and it will feel below freezing!although it should be dry as the showers will have died back to the Welsh hills and Mountains and Coasts, although some showers are still possible! Have a good one. Your week ahead forecast!

Evening folks! Its felt more like early Winter today with temperatures hovering around 9/10c 48-50f all day, and the bad new there is more of this to come. But the talking point for the next few days will be the intensity of the rain. If you have a look at the top chart ,for tomorrow morning you will see that its a grim rush hour, with potential torrential rain leading to localized flooding in places so please take care on the roads. The culprit as you can see on the chart above is a deep area  of low pressure which will also give blustery winds at times this week and overall it will feel cool in the days ahead. Some brightness or even sunshine at times this week but dont blink because youre likely to miss it!!Tommorow may likely see some of that brightness during the afternoon/evening period for example. Something quieter Thursday/Friday, but nothing like anything resembling settled!! Thanks for netweather for the use of their charts. Have a good week despite the weather.....Ian.

Your week ahead forecast.

Im fed up with showing you pictures of rain clouds so here we go for something a little bit more cheerfull a Sunflower! This picture is misleading though as sunshine this week will still be at a premium! Good news though it will start to feel warmer from Tuesday onwards and becoming muggy as well. Temperatures could well touch 23c/73f during midweek in any sunshine. Now the bad news if you dont like rain is that there is an increasing chance of thundery rain developing during Tuesday to Thursday. Then a band of rain looks like moving through during early Friday morning to bring fresher and cooler conditions and yes you know by now, showers to follow. All in all a once again very mixed up summer week but it will at least feel somewhat warmer.!  Have a great week .Ian.
