Weather Round-up for....February 2012.

February was a "Two Faced" month with the first half seeing Winter conditions with snow and ice and severe frosts. Snow fell and settled on the 4th and 9th/10th although there was a fairly quick thaw on all occasions. Severe frosts were freqent minus 10c/18f was the lowest I recorded at VOEWS, but there other occasions when the temperature was nearly as cold as this and further East temperatures went below minus 16c during this time.The second half of the month was quite different and at times Springlike.A temperature of 15.7c/60f was recorded on the 23rd and a number of days saw similar temperatures. There were only three air frosts during the second half of the month. Rainfall once again was well below average with only about 40% of average [50mms] recorded 21.2mms ,less than an inch. Average daily temperatures are 6.9c/45f, recorded 7.6c/46f and a average night temperature of 1.3c/35f  and recordedwas 1c/34f.
