Dreary...!

The "mid winter blues" is really a symptom the weather has caught over this Winter and this weekend although mild will see little if any brightness with more rain and wind! Tonight will see some clearer conditions with temperatures down to 7c/45f but after midnight the wind  will increase and rain will set in and all of us wil have a dreary, dark start to Saturday, rain and wind will be knocking on your windows and that sets the scene for the day with winds in exposed locations gusting in excess of 30mph from the South West, but that rain will ease off in the afternoon , with windy ,dry conditions to follow over the Evening period, a mild cloudy windy night into Sunday morning with cloud and murky conditions ,and rain will become more widespread during the Afternoon with some heavy bursts...See I told you it would be Dreary!! Weather Watch....Heavy Rain and Flooding.

After some heavy rain of the last few days especially in the West of our region over the Cambrian Mountains in Wales there is a risk of some Flooding Issues. The River Wye is now on Flood Alert, meaning that there is potential for some flooding in the next 24/36hrs. There are other numerous alerts in Wales and this problem may spread to parts of England  overnight as heavy overnight rain is likely for many . Tomorrow looks better ,once the overnight rain clears but still some showery rain over the Mountains Of Wales. Friday will see more rain but perhaps  the,Welsh Mountains may escape the worst! The Week Ahead Forecast....

Weather RoundUp for December 2010.

December was one of the coldest since 1890! Here at worcestershireweather.com based in Evesham we recorded 14 ice days [thats when the temperature never got above freezing] The voews [Vale Of Evesham Weather Station]recorded minus 16.3c/3f on the 19th with an exceptionally cold maximum temperature that day of only minus 7.3c/19f. Locally at Pershore the temperature plummeted down to minus 19c/-2f on the 19th! Then there was another Bitterly cold spell over the Xmas period with a very festive scene. Xmas night and Boxing day night saw temperatures plummet down to minus 14.3c/6f , locally colder and Christmas Day itself was bitter with temperatures not getting above minus 6c/21f! Heavy snow fell across a wide area on the 18th but places like Ross on Wye, Malvern and Hereford saw little if any snow that day! Fourteen days of lying snow again locally more! The average daytime temp for this area is 7.7c46f ....recorded 1.6c/35f....Night Time temp Average 2.2c/36f..Recorded Minus 3.6c! The thaw came shortly after Boxing Day ,a "slow" thaw initially but the maximum temperature recorded was surprisingly at the end of the month on the 30th with a tropical  10.2c/50f but river levels remained within the confines of there banks in most cases, so thank goodness no flooding problems! Precipitation, mainly in the form of ice and snow came just about average with 63.8mms although there was a strong deviation across the area. So, A very Memorable Month!

WeekEnd Forecast....Not Bad...!!

Evening Folks, and we are already at the end of the first week of the new year! It has to be said thankfully the snow this morning was not to widespread, and here at ww.coms headquarters we got none, but upland areas saw some as well as the good Folks in Mid Wales. The weekend is going to be typical for the time of year but with a lot of dry and bright weather especially on Sunday. Tonight will see mild cloudy conditions with lows of 7c/45f  with some showery outbreaks of rain at times and some more persistent heavy rain will move in at the second half of the night so first thing Saturday morning will likely start off ,dismall and wet with some patchy rain. By the middle of the day this should start to clear and the wind freshen from the West and even though temperatures mild in the morning at about 8c/46f these temperatures will fall in the afternoon/Evening with some clearer spells developing overnight into Sunday morning with a patchy frost developing by around 8am. Weather Watch...SNOW!

This is an early warning for a spell of snow for the counties of Worcester, West Midlands, Warwick, Oxford,Gloucester,Monmouth, Powys, Shropshire, and Hereford. Snow is likely in all these areas late Thursday into Friday morning which may well give some travel disruption for a while. The snow will slowly die out and Thaw during Friday afternoon. Updates will appear here if needed.
