Week Ahead Forecast....

Weather Roundup for November....

November, was a very interesting month as regards to a variety of weather and temperature! 15.7C/60f was recorded on the 4th and then on the 11th /12th a large and deep low pressure system crossed the Uk bringing severe gales or even storm force winds and heavy rain. Then the weather became quieter and colder with high pressure developing to the North of the Uk with winds coming in from the NorthEast bringing some very cold air. The last few days of November brought some very heavy snow for some with record falls and some astonishingly low temperatures, a record low of minus 18c/0f, a record low at this time of year for Powys in beautiful Mid Wales with a minus 10c recorded here at ww.coms Hq on the 28th with daytime temperatures not getting above freezing. Precipitation...[Rain/Snow] came about average here in Evesham at 65.7mms but did differ greatly from one place to another. Temperatures were below average for both day and night with the average daytime temperature recorded 8.3c/46f compared to the average 9.8c/49f and likewise the recorded average nightime temperature came out at 3c/37f below the average 3.8c/39f.

Winters "No Hurry"...!!

 A rather miserable and messy 24/36 hours coming up with Winter really still holding its grip on the Uk and even though the Atlantic wants to try and bring somewhat milder weather in its going to be a losing battle with more snow tonight and a mix of sleet and freezing rain to add in the mix as temperatures get just above freezing for a short time and as that front clears the area in the early hours ,skies will clear, winds will be light and fog will readily form and it will quickly drop well below 0c so problems then for freezing fog and Ice ,a deadly combination if your driving, so please only drive tomorrow morning if you really have too because even the treated roads may well be icy and the fog will be an extra hazard too!  A grey ,very cold cheerless day on Saturday, with temperatures just getting above freezing with more rain ,sleet and snow for all parts in the afternoon and this extending well in to the evening, then on Sunday morning ,Ice/Fog will again be a problem but the sun is quite likely to make an appearance so overall a better day on Sunday, although temperatures still very cold with best temperatures not much above freezing, If  youre looking for a quick warm up next week ,look away now, but more about that on our Video forecast on Sunday. WEATHER WATCH.....A WINTRY MIX!

This Weather Watch is valid from Midday December 3rd to cover the whole weekend,to Midday Sunday.

There is likely to be problems over the next 48 hrs with regards to Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Fog and Frost and with rain which will cause problems when falling on some very cold surfaces. Please take care, when travelling on untreated roads and pavements. A slow thaw is likely on lower ground on Sunday.

Top Of The World.....The "BIG" Freeze..!

The UK and most of Europe are experiencing one of the most severe earliest Winter spells in decades. Parts of the East of the Uk have had over two feet of snow and Gatwick airport has been closed for a few days and the old record of minus 27.2c in Scotland last reached in December 1995 is under threat in the next 12 hours! As always we Brits always struggle in these situations but this has been a very potent cold spell, and so early in the season is really quite incredible, and our European neighbours are struggling too! Winters Still Laughing..!!

Good Evening, well this "Unusually Severe" cold spell is really giving problems right across the Uk ,but it has to be said our area has at the moment seen less disruption then other places. Tomorrow, we will show the worst of the Wintry weather across the Uk on "Top Of The World" Now for Tonight an icy evening some snow flurries still going just about anywhere, with lows down to minus5c/24f  with a penetrating frost with that breeze coming in from the NorthEast. Thursday, will see similar conditions to Wednesday but some perhaps more significant snow for a time across the Oxford Area and some snow showers elsewhere, with a bitterly cold Brisk NorthEasterly wind. Temperatures at a maximum will see 0c/32f. Little change, as we move into the evening except we will see the wind die out and clear spells developing, leading to a very severe frost into Friday morning with most places seeing below minus 10c, and perhaps some record cold for areas such as Powys and Shropshire with lows perhaps down to or below minus18c/0f.
