A bitterly cold airmass will push across the Uk from the NorthEast during the next couple of days turning the rain to sleet and snow. Sunday, will see this transition across this area with rain to turning to snow. There is still uncertainty, on this forecast but people are asked to be aware of this situation.

Weather Round -Up For....January 2013.
This month was generally very snowy nationwide, but the outstanding feature was that the month was very dull and the cloudy conditions prevented [generally] any oustandingly low temperatures across the snowfields of the Uk. The cold weather started around the 10th here in Worcestershire, with heavy snow during the 18th, and further bouts of snow during the next week. The snow lay on the ground for eight days when a quick thaw happeed on the 26th with much milder conditions for the rest of the month although at times stormy with some damaging gusts of wind on the 28th. The highest pressure recorded was a 1036.4mbs on the 4th and 984.1mbs on the 20th Precipitation came above average again with 74.7mms recorded [3 inches] compared to the average 62mms. The month was typically average temperature wise with the recorded daytime temps of 6.7c/42f compared to the norm of 6.1c/43f. The night time temps came out at the recorded 2.3c/37f compared to the average of 1.4c/35f. The highest temperature this month was 12.8c/55f on the 29th and the lowest was minus4.4c/26f on the 25th.There were 2 ice days during the snowy spell,on the 16th/20th with a maximum day temp of only minus 1.8c on the 16th. Truly, a wintry month!
